The Brasserie “L’École” – 1715 Government Street. Brasserie is defined as "an unpretentious restaurant that serves drinks, esp. beer, and simple or hearty food". This definition parallels the restaurant design and menu. The name "l'école" (French for The Schoolhouse) is a nod to the history of the building, which once was a Chinese Schoolhouse.

A favourite among novice and experienced hikers, East Sooke Park encompasses 1,436 hectares of natural and protected coastal landscape. The ten-kilometre Coast Trail takes hikers through lush rain forest, along windswept bluffs and down to the ocean's edge.

Visit some of our historical monuments: We have some great historical monuments within minutes of downtown. Wander through Canada’s oldest Chinatown, visit Craigdarroch Castle or tour through the Legislative Buildings (aka Parliament Buildings).

Royal BC Museum - Discover the Royal British Columbia Museum and its famous First Peoples, Natural History and Modern History Galleries. Three-dimensional displays offer the senses a feast of the sights, smells and sounds of British Columbia. Walk through a rainforest, sit among aboriginal poles and stroll down the street to window-shop in Old Town.
